Hyaluronic Acid Serum is very highly concentrated in sodium hyaluronate, dissolved in water, in its purest form. It has been formulated to hydrate and soften dry and/or sensitive skin.
¤ Sodium hyaluronate is the sodium salt derived from hyaluronic acid, the most abundant mucopolysaccharide present in connective tissue and one of the main constituents of the skin’s extra-cellular matrix. It has an important structural function, participating in the production of collagen and elastin, and plays an essential role in maintaining youthful-looking skin. Able to retain over 1000 times its weight in water, it is also essential for maintaining skin hydration.
¤ Ageing brings a significant decrease in the concentration of hyaluronic acid in the epidermis resulting in skin dehydration and visible signs of ageing. The skin becomes drier, thinner and loses the ability to regenerate. Wrinkles appear and the contours of the face start to sag.
¤ Applied topically, hyaluronic acid serum is absorbed through the epidermis, boosting, and stimulating synthesis of, endogenous hyaluronic acid. Its hygroscopic properties attract and retain huge numbers of water molecules and it thus protects the skin from deyhydration. By increasing the skin’s capacity for retaining water, daily use of hyaluronic acid serum has a rejuvenating effect on the skin, improving tone and appearance. Gradually, skin becomes softer, fine lines are smoothed out and wrinkles diminish.
